CONGRATS TO NADINE ALI ! ! !

Congratulations to our NAACP Treasurer,Nadine Ali, she is not only working the mission but she is also working in other areas of the community. She has been awarded the Community Ambassador Award by the Healthy Belvedere Initiative.

The Healthy Belvedere Initiative is a partnership between Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for Georgia, The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the community of Belvedere. The objective of the initiative is to promote healthy eating and active living through community-based and community driven strategies to reduce the incidences, ill-effects and health disparities associated with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, obesity, cardio-vascular disease, etc.

Since the beginning of the initiative, the community has been actively involved in formulating and implementing activities geared toward improving the community’s health and here are a few of the accomplishments to-date: (1) walking club/group; (2) community garden; (3) Safe Routes to School and (4) HEAL (Healthy Eating/Active Living) Camp --- these are just a few of the milestones accomplished under this Initiative.
