August 20, 2010 -- The Georgia State Conference NAACP is preparing for the most highly anticipated event of the year as we present the 68th Annual Convention & Civil Rights Conference. The convention will be hosted by the DeKalb County Branch of the NAACP in the Stonecrest Mall area and Antioch Lithonia-Missionary Baptist Church on October 6-10, 2010. The five day engagement will have activities for the entire family.

This spectacular affair will be held in DeKalb County for the first time. The Stonecrest area located off of I-20 East has a 1.3 million square foot facility at the Mall at Stonecrest, which has shopping, dining and an AMC Cinema. The Host hotels includes Hyatt Place and Fairfield Inn.
Edward O. DuBose, President of the Georgia State Conference NAACP, said that they are expecting more than 300 delegates, political officials from across Georgia and more than 1,000 visitors to attend the convention. He says, “We are excited about coming together at the Georgia State Convention and recognizing those members who support the efforts of this historical organization.”
The course of events will consist of the following, a kick -off Golf Tournament the Religious Affairs Breakfast, Leadership Council Meeting & Luncheon, Gospel Musical Extravaganza featuring today’s most popular gospel entertainers and the NAACP Mass Choir which offers churches an opportunity to headline gospel acts, Technology Workshops, along with Afro-Academic Cultural Technological & Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), Health Workshops, Political Forum, Veterans Affairs Ball (Celebration) , Youth & College Workshops, Freedom Awards Banquet, Women in the NAACP (WIN) Breakfast and much more.

The convention will also include a morning run/walk that will focus on health, and a golf tournament. It is open to the public.
